General Renewal Information
Licensure Renewal for the upcoming
2017-2018 Practice Biennium

  • Deadline: December 31, 2016 for the following licensure types:
  • Renewal Fee:
    • Audiologists (AUD) ..............................................................$120.00
    • Speech-language pathologists (SLP) .....................................$120.00
    • Dual license (SLP & AUD) ....................................................$170.00
    • Inactive SLP or AUD (Renewal of current inactive status) ..........$25.00
    • AUD and SLP Aides ..............................................................$50.00
  • Late Fee $150.00:
    • Applied to any renewal application or application for inactive status that is not received or post-marked by December 31, 2016.
    • The late fee cannot be waived for any reason.

Late On-line Renewal

  • Late Online Renewal is available through the Boards' secure website at: https://license.ohio.gov/secure/default.asp.
  • For Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology practitioners only.

  • What You Will Need:
    • Your user ID and password; this will be provided in the renewal letter mailed in October 2016.

Late Paper Renewals
Dual Licensees (SLP and AUD), Aides, and SLP or AUD

Late Inactive Status of License

  • Inactive notification letters will be mailed to current inactive SLPs and AUDs between Sept. 30 and Oct. 3. Note: an inactive application for 2017-2018 was enclosed.

Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

  • All speech-language pathologists and audiologists are required to earn twenty clock hours of continuing education, which includes two hours related to ethics, within the two-year renewal period, January 1, 2015 - December 31, 2016.
    • Ten hours shall be acquired in the area of licensure:
      • For a speech-language pathology license the ten hours shall be specific to the clinical practice of speech-language pathology;
      • For an audiology license the ten hours shall be specific to the clinical practice of audiology.
  • Ten continuing education hours may be acquired in areas related to speech-language pathology or audiology or both.
  • Note: Any licensee who is selected for a continuing education audit and has not completed the required hours pursuant to the Board's continuing education rules by December 31, 2016 will be required to pay the Board's licensure renewal late fee of $150, in addition to the regular license renewal fee.

    Exempt from CE Requirement

  • Any licensee renewing their initial license for the very first time.

Non Exempt from CE Requirement

  • Renewal of a license that was:
    • Previously expired
    • Reinstated
    • Previously restored from inactive status
    • Note: for anyone who was relicensed, restored, or reinstated during the 2015-2016 biennium, this is not your first time renewing your license, and continuing education will be applicable.
